Miami Beach Pediatrics now has the 2009 H1N1 and seasonal influenza vaccines in the office.
We have both the live attenuated nasal sprays and the inactivated intramuscular shots.
Who needs the vaccines?
As per the CDC - all patients 6 months to 24 years.
As per our thoughts at Miami Beach Pediatrics, if a parent wants to bring in their children it is up to them . They need to make an appointment . Since there is a limited amount of vaccines and since we feel not all children are at a high risk, we tend to not enforce the need of vaccines as much as the CDC.
Patients with risk factors of chronic diseases ie asthmatics,diabetics or those with weakened immune systems are first in line for the vaccines.
Patients ages 6 months to 2 years of age are next and patients 6 months to 5 years are next in line for needing the vaccines. But, if any parent wants to still give the vaccine to any child 6 months to 24 years of age, can at their discretion.
